Hello All,
Reflecting on the year so far has been a challenge in a number of ways. But we try Being Grateful despite the circumstances that we face every day.
* Whilst we are separated physically from Family & Friends, we are grateful for having modern technology to keep us connected.
* Whilst we are working from home, we are grateful for being with our immediate family in a safe environment.
* Whilst we have elderly neighbours who are not related, we are grateful to have them, We treat them as though they were an extension of our family, checking they're ok especially during lock-down or isolation.
* Whilst family & friends may have tested positive, we are grateful that they have the all-clear, recovered and are home with their loved ones.
* Most importantly, we are grateful for ALL the Nurses, Doctors, Medical Teams and those working to keep the hospitals running. They are the Super Heros of 2020, risking their own lives & health, time with their own families, to treat the unwell. It's an extreme act of selflessness, & it makes me feel lucky that we have our medicals teams taking care of us around the world.
* We can only do what's suggested to keep the strain off the medical system. Our small acts of washing up, social distancing and wearing masks will continue to help us all through this difficult time.
Humanity has shown a different side though. We have witnessed scary moments amongst our global fellow citizens. Irrespective of where we come from, our race, culture, colour or religious beliefs, we should be grateful that all these differences are what makes us interesting. Let's do what we can together to make this world a better place for all, not just the privileged.
However, I must say that I'm constantly gobsmacked by those that take advantage of those just trying to do their best. Dishonest acts of swindling and ripping off decent, good-hearted people is overwhelming sad. There are so many start-up and small businesses that have lost many opportunities, together with funds as a result of the pandemic restrictions or cancelled events. But what's worse is when organisations profit with their deceptive methods by keeping funds for services not provided, making financial gains for their own purpose. Let's hope justice catches up with those in a big way.
As I take a deep breathe for humanity and hope that circumstances change globally, I am grateful that whilst we feel somewhat isolated in Zurich from the rest of our family abroad, that we are well, in good spirits and trying to make the best of every situation that rears its head. I wish the same for you and your family.
