I wanted to mark our 6th birthday with a celebration of reviews and testimonials from customers, sharing your results from using the products. It seems like yesterday when I decided to increase the production of my personal favourite batch of Nourishing Face Balm into samples for distribution and trial.I was never really sure what would happen, if there would be a market for all-natural skincare products, or if anyone would like the products I make.

The best feedback so far has been from my client who has been using the Nourishing Face Balm amongst other products. One time, the waiter handed her the Kid’s Menu, and another time, the shop assistant asked her for ID when attempting to purchase alcohol!That still makes me giggle every time.Thanks for sharing these amazing comments Jeannine xx.

I hope you all had a wonderful start to the new decade, 2020. With so many events both good and bad happening around the globe, I wanted to begin our Newsletter year with happy testaments and reviews.Sharing your story with me is one of privilege and honour, especially since these are personal struggles, frustrations and persistence to reach your goals. If there’s one thing I can encourage you through this Blog is to Never Give Up.

I’d like to share some new Testimonials that have been sent to me over the past year, when I wrote the last Testimonial Blog.Starting with the Nourishing Face Balm and Frankincense Face Serum , this dynamic duo are so wonderfully soft and hydrating, that seriously one or two drops is sufficient for your whole face to feel uplifted.

Snippets of glee commenced coming in from various locations in Switzerland, starting with this:
‘My pots of pure goodness have arrived. #natural #handmadecosmetics #youngandbeautiful. I have Nourishing Face Balmand samples of products I haven’t tried before.’

For the Frankincense Face Serum a lovely lady shared this:

I Love this Testament regarding Cool Eyes :

The other products used for Acne, or Acne/Rosacea are the Evanesce Balm , Vitamin Rich Womens Face Balm, Vitamin Rich Mens Face Balm, together with the Magic Serum and either of the Cleansers.

Another product is the Sun Kissed Balm which was created for Sunspots and discolouration, but not freckles. A customer shares:
‘I recently bought the Cypress Cleansing Balm and Sun Kissed Balm. Oh Wow, so good. My skin really loves them.I still suffer a break out in spots when my cycle comes around, but your potions really help to calm it all down.So thank you!’

Another fantastic message from a woman using the Sun Kissed Balm:
‘Lili, I kept meaning to message.I love the Sun Kissed Balm , and think it is improving my sun damage slowly. It also seems to be somehow drying up oily spots which I have had on my temples since Spring.I love the smell and feel of the balm.

A few months later, she wrote again, and this was definitely worth the wait:

For me, no matter how old the person I’m helping is, getting the result is the ultimate goal. And these messages always make me the happiest.

What about that irritating skin condition, Eczema.I absolutely detest it, how it makes your skin feel, irritated, dried out, swollen, cracked, bleeding, itching and so utterly annoying.The other condition similar to this is Psoriasis which can have flare ups just as bad on the skin.     Testimonials for me is when someone shares their personal individual story of struggle, trials, falling, rising and reaching their goal. Whether it’s a combination of health & diet, studies and a higher purpose in life.

    Often, someone comes to me privately on a direct message asking for help.Usually it’s skin related – Psoriasis, Eczema, Acne and dry skin.For me, who has had a history with dry irritated sensitive Eczema prone skin, these issues are something I can help with first hand.But sometimes the condition is something that I haven’t suffered or endured before. Therefore, providing help requires a little more time to research before coming up with a small batch of product for them to try out.

    In 2016, I was asked to make a product for Sun Spots and Discolouration. I made both Sun Kissed Serum and Sun Kissed Balm for this condition, giving out samples to try out.Then I received this testimonial in message in Feb & April 2018:

    After enjoying too much sun in Spain some time back, I got some really nasty brown blotches on my cheeks. I was so bad, I had to use a lot of foundation to cover them up, and I am really not a foundation person.Lili recommended the Sun Kissed Balm and I started using the Balm in the evening, after cleansing my face with Cypress Cleansing Balm. It took a couple of weeks to see the first effect, I had to be a bit patient, yet my skin recovered over time and today I am back to a healthy skin tone.     Sometimes my products don’t work out the first time.I initially made What Crow’s Feet in 2016 for the Eyes, but then when one of my dedicated testers reacted, I stopped making it.Then I made the Cool Eyes when I found the glass jars.I love this tiny pot of Gold magic, but it’s not about what I think.It’s what my customers think.In August 2017, one suffering with Milia wrote this:

    LOVE IT! The Cool Eyes is super creamy & smooth and it hydrates the skin around my eyes. The best thing is it reduced the Milia I have around my eyes. I see results just after 3 weeks of usage! And the product is all natural. I’m so glad that I found this Lili.

    The Mandarin Lip Balm is one of the latest products to the range.After a few attempts, we quite like this latest blend with Mandarin and Tea Tree, which helps get rid of any infections and viruses too. I took it to a Women’s Meet up in Zurich this March and let the ladies sample it.I know I can’t complain about this result that she wrote the next day:

    Lili, your Mandarin Lip Balm was really good. I have found only one good in 40 years and yours is the 2nd best one!!

    Another Customer wrote to me:

    I had a persistent hard sore on my lip which nothing seemed to make it go away. I have been using the Mandarin Lip Balm since it was made and the hard sore has gone, my lips are now soft again.Not much is required either! Thanks so much.

    This story is by far the best result.When I was asked about 2nd degree burns, I was thinking about the products I make, the age of the child and what would be best for her skin.I made my suggestion to the concerned and stressed out mum when she replied, ‘No, I was told to get Renew Balm ’.I went back through my reviews and testimonials and found a comment made by my brother in Australia.

    My 5 year-old daughter spilt boiling hot tea down her upper chest and ended up with second degree burns.     Where the conditions are more serious and gut related, don’t forget to keep an eye on your diet / food intake to ensure that you’re not aggravating the skin.On the last blog, I talked about what kind of ingredients to look out for if you have certain conditions.Be sure to check out that list or message me for more information. In Summary, if you want to make a change to your diet, start my reducing the saturated fats, sugars, carbs and processed foods.Eat more greens and salads as they are lighter to digest.

    On the newsletter, I wrote about Carrot Seed Essential Oil. To make your own gentle scrub for your face, place these ingredients into a jar and scoop when needed.
    • Add Honey which is great for healing the skin as it allows the skin to maintain moisture and keep it soft.
    • Coconut Oil which is antifungal and also helps moisturise the skin.
    • Add the grounded Coffee to the scrub.It has antioxidants which help your skin, but also give the texture for gently scrubbing off skin cells that no longer need to be there!
    • Add a few drops of Carrot Seed Oil to the mix, which is fabulous for all skin types, as well as boosting skin that has been sun-damaged.
    • Alternative ingredients – You can use Oatmeal, Olive Oil, Lavender or Tea Tree Essential Oil.

    You can remember your teens like it was yesterday – going through your body’s changes, hormones, studying, having that crush on that cutest boy/girl at school. Some of us had those awkward braces to wear for straightening our teeth. Does that ring a bell? Probably the worst part about our teens is the acne breakouts. Just when you think it’s all sorted, another one rears its ugly head and screams at you when you get up … ‘ GOOD MORNING I AM A NEW ZIT & I AM HERE RIGHT ON YOUR FOREHEAD, NOSE, AND CHIN FOR EVERYONE TO SEE’ … Oh-M-Gee, Totally Cringeworthy.

    How did you feel during those times? Embarrassed, self-conscious, frustrated, worried about what people were going to think of you? What was the first thing you would do? Ok, 3rd thing, because the first thing was probably want to crawl back into bed and hide, the 2nd thing you wanted to do was POP IT and so the 3rd thing you wanted to do was cover it up.

    But what if you’re a boy or as we say in Australia, a young fella, bloke? You can’t put on foundation or cover-up without being laughed at… or can you? Some kids were ‘lucky’ when the didn’t get so many on their faces, but they had them on their shoulders and back. During the wintertime when no-one sees them, it’s no big deal, but when the summer arrives, that hidden factor suddenly comes to the surface for everyone to see.

    My parents grew up in Sicily, Italy, and were eating a lot of whole foods from the land, which was not processed or spoilt by Commercial pesticides. When we were teenagers, the association with the foods we were eating with allergies and skin problems were not linked.It’s ironic because our parents had such great skin with a natural, healthy glow about them, whilst the generation after us were showing a different story. Many were overweight and their skin was showing more spots, acne or other problems.

    Whilst I write this, I want you to understand that I was one of those teens – overweight, spots, eating secretly when no-one was watching and trying to overcome not only issues like Acne but Eczema as well.

    Today I have noticed that this ‘teen cycle’ is happening again for those in their ’20s, ’30s and often in the ’40s. I’m sure if you hated it then, you will be feeling even more frustrated and self-conscious as an adult with kids looking like a teenager, right?
    But why is it happening? There are a number of reasons why:

    • The foods we eat – Sometimes what we are eating no longer agrees with our internal gut system. It’s become sluggish and is working like an old car that needs to have its oil changed.
    • Our bodies are changing – There’s no date for when this should start to happen to us, but it will at some stage begin.
    • Stress – This can be the biggest killer. Stress can mess up our minds, our relationships, our work environment and ultimately our bodies.
    • Skincare routine – Often we use products that are too harsh as they strip the necessary natural oils from our skin’s reserves. In doing so, the skin’s oils are taken away, causing the body to reproduce more oil to replenish what’s missing.This tends to create a vicious cycle: the body replenishes the oils – we are told to remove the excess – the body reproduces the oils – we remove them again – etc.
    • Hydration – Are you drinking 2 litres of water a day to keep your body replenished?
    • Time – Do you have unrealistic expectations and are you wanting everything to go away quickly?

    How to help and manage these:

    • Maintaining a well-balanced diet where there is a lot of healthy varieties & colours is a great way to keep your body functioning at all levels. This is particularly important if you are suffering from other ailments like Allergies and Intolerances, Hashimotos, Diabetes & even more serious conditions like Cancer. Whilst some of you can still have your indulgent ‘cheat days’, try to ensure it’s not every day.

    • Being aware of our body changes and what is happening from the beginning will help with the next phase of life. Whether our changes are monthly related, hormonal or the commencement of the pre-menopausal stage, our bodies will begin to adjust.
    Seeking out others who have already been on that route is also a great idea – why suffer when learning from someone else’s journey can save you the hassle?

    • Try to de-stress and unwind to allow our minds to calm down, giving our bodies a chance to rebalance. Some love to do Yoga, Pilates, spa treatments, massage, running, hiking or just getting some rest. Whatever activity you choose to do, keep a journal nearby where you can write what’s bothering you as part of the de-stress process.

    • The right skincare routine is also necessary, and when you find what works for you, stick to it. Unless your body and skin tell you it’s time for a change.Start with a gentle cleansing routine, removing your makeup, washing your face and neck. Then apply a concentrated serum if you have one, or a gentle face balm to help replenish your skin.Your skin should feel soft, especially the next morning when you run the ‘back of your hand’ over your face.I still love doing this today!!!

    Please keep in mind that if you have had skin problems for a longer period of time, the overnight factor will need a longer period of time to see the results.

    • Water is the source of life – The reality is that water is a daily necessity, as it helps our bodies get rid of toxins, helps replenish our cells, as well as keep us hydrated from within.Remember, whilst your skincare keeps your skin moisturised, the water intake from within keeps it hydrated.

    • Turn back time – We all want the fairy godmother to wave her wand and make all our problems go away overnight. I know what that feels like first hand, waking up every morning to inspect how good or bad my skin looked. The reality is that if you have had a long-term skin condition, it will need time to repair, recover, and to give you that glow back.

    Some of you are still shocked when I explain what my skin used to look like as a teenager, covered from face to thighs in weeping and bleeding Eczema. I have no photos of that time in my life, where I saw myself as hideous, so I kept myself indoors for 2 months, away from life.To get well, I had to do things the hard way, seeking help to get my life back on track.

    I had to eliminate so many foods and drinks from my diet, to clear my body of years of toxins, caused by medicine, antibiotics, and foods.
    All I wanted to be a whole lot of ‘normal’.     It didn’t happen overnight, but with persistence, patience, encouragement, goodwill, strength, a positive attitude together with love and support, I got through to the other side. This is what I always try to reassure you with – it will happen, though be kind to yourself with diligence and managing your expectations.
