The Anguish of Rosacea with Acne

Rosacea Before & After

The Anguish of Rosacea with Acne

The Anguish of Rosacea with Acne and finding a calming solution.

Recently, I was contacted by women & men of varying ages to help them with Rosacea.According to Wikipedia, ‘Rosacea is a long term skin condition which affects mainly the face.The effects are on the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin, usually showing redness, with pimples and swelling, that have small superficial dilated blood vessels.The cause of Rosacea is unknown, though the risk factors are believed to be linked with family history. The signs of Rosacea can get worse when exposed to heat or cold, exercise, sunlight, spicy foods, alcohol, psychological stress, or during menopause and with the use of steroid/cortisone creams.These steroid creams include metronidazole, doxycycline, tetracycline, brimonidine, ivermectin, isotretinoin.Sunscreen is recommended, though we should all be using sunblock for our skin, irrespectively.Often patients endure dermabrasion or laser surgery.’

When I have seen someone with Rosacea, it looks extremely irritated, dry and aggravated.Those from far who have contacted me have said this condition makes them feel like others are staring at them, or that it’s very hot and irritating, that the medicated products are not working, and extremely depressing, where the woman didn’t want to leave her home anymore.

I just want to encourage you that you are not alone.There have been others that suffered the same condition and have been able to find a solution.Part of it is being aware of what your body is telling you to avoid.More and more people are unable to eat the kinds of foods they ate in their younger years, whether it be simple things like Pepper, Chillies and spices.

A few tips:
• Don’t be afraid to control or give up certain foods whilst your body re-balances itself.
• Try to find alternatives to the things you loved having.
• Make sure you maintain a skincare routine that is as natural as possible.Often the products available are either suppress the conditions, or they are too harsh as they strip the necessary natural oils from our skin’s reserves.When this happens, your body will make more oils to replenish what has been lost, creating an ongoing cycle:We remove the oils, the body makes it again, we remove them and so on.
• Make sure you also drink plenty of water throughout the day.
• Be realistic about the results you are looking for.Normally I ask how long someone has had the condition – and for every year, you should give the skin 1 month to repair and re-balance.Whilst the results often happen quickly, the time taken to repair years of damage is usually much longer. The reality is that if you have had a long-term skin condition, it will need time to repair, recover and to give you that glow back

If you are suffering with Rosacea and would like personal assistance, please book a Consult Therapist session.

I would always recommend cleansing your skin at night time, to ensure that the healing process commences.You can choose between the Cypress Cleansing Balm which is made with Beeswax, Butters and Essential Oils, or the Sunflower Cleanser which is oil based and contains Lemon & Ylang Ylang essential oils.

The other products made for Rosacea with Acne are Vitamin Rich Mens Face Balm and Vitamin Rich Womens Face Balm.Don’t let yourself endure more anguish with your skin due to irritation or damage.If it’s just Acne that needs treating, Evanesce Balm with Magic Serum for those stubborn areas.For others who only have Rosacea, Nourishing Face Balm with the Frankincense Face Serum has been effective.See the variety of variety of Products.

The best part is when someone writes me back with photos to say that their skin has changed drastically.You can read more about these on ‘Feedback, Reviews & Testimonials’. These are Your words expressing how you feel about Your skin and the products you have been using.I really love these stories and testimonials and I can only say ‘Thank you for sharing these with us.If you wish to be included on the Testimonial page, please send me a picture of yourself, preferably without makeup, and a blurb about your version of happy.

How Perseverance is Key

How Perseverance Is Key to Getting Your Glow, Confidence & Wellness back.

How Perseverance Is Key to Getting Your Glow, Confidence & Wellness back

What I love is sharing my personal About Me story with those who ask about the Essentially Lili All-Natural Skincare products.The reason I started making the Range and sharing the products with others IS because of my personal journey. The battle I had with Eczema as a Kid and Teenager and into adulthood, combined with the various types of medications I was given made my whole body a mess from inside-out.

The frustration of looking at myself in the mirror, being covered in red blotches, patches, bleeding scratches that were also weeping clear liquid was beyond painful and awful.  It made me feel self-conscious, hideous, lacking confidence and extremely isolated.

At 19, when my journey to wellness began, I remember being in a very dark and lonely space, away from everyone outside.   I only left the house to see my Naturopath who helped me get out of this medically created mess.  My skin was the worst he had ever seen. To make me feel more disheartened was getting worse at the beginning when I started my detoxification process.  However, the anguish I was going through was enough to keep me persevering, following his instructions with determination to get the results I desperately wanted.

How many of you have been ill or felt yuk and all you wanted to do was hide away from the world?

I know what it’s like.  I didn’t go anywhere in my state.  This was happening during my 3rd year of University and so I just stopped attending everything for 2 months – lectures, tutorials and social events.  I returned to sit my exams though it was no surprise I failed some that semester. I had to do an extra year of University, graduating the following year with my Bachelor of Business (Accounting) Degree.

Sometimes in life, things just go from bad to worse. They make us feel frustrated, angry, stressed out, anxious and willing to chuck in the towel.  But what if you took a different approach?  What if you just took some time out, to reflect, to write down what’s bothering you, change your strategy and do something different.  What if the results you are looking for are right in front of you?

For me, I took one month of totally detoxing my body, changing what and how I ate to bring the results I needed. It was not an easy path, but I persisted, persevered and was patient with my body’s recovery.

When I ask Customers to keep an eye on what they’re eating, wearing, touching and if their environment has changed, it’s not because I want to criticise or judge you. It may be that these factors are triggering the reactions in your body. They could be the reason for the breakouts in your skin, giving you cramps, headaches or causing you to feel irritable and cranky. By changing something, we can help speed up the process of getting well again and preventing those issues reoccurring on a frequent basis.

I really want to encourage you that Perseverance, Persistence and Patience are Key to getting your glow, your confidence and your Mojo back.  We would all love to have the overnight success, though it doesn’t always happen. Can you imagine if we only needed to go to the gym once to have an awesome Shaun T BeachBody Six Pack?   Can you imagine if you went on a diet and the next day could fit into size 8?   We can all dream of those moments, but the reality is that a lot of time, effort and persistence went into achieving these goals.

A quick summary for Getting Your Glow:
* Do not cleanse in the mornings as you could remove any new cells that were generated whilst you were getting your beauty sleep!
* Cleansing only at night time to remove any dirt and pollution from your skin.
* Some Serums & Balms contain Essential Oils that will make your skin sensitive to the sun.These should only be applied at night time.
* Applying a little of the balms as often as needed helps prevent your skin from drying out and cracking.
* Depending on the age of the child, sometimes we need to be clever and apply products on their nearby toys.
* Don’t be afraid to get rid of products that contain parabens & other nasty ingredients, no matter how much they cost.
* I recently cleared a Beauty Case full of Expensive well-known brands worth a lot of money, many of which were new & unused.I also threw out all my emergency stashes of Cortisone that were always in my drawers – just in case.
* In all things, apply common sense – drink water, wear sun hats, sun block, if something doesn’t agree with you, stop eating /drinking it, and find an alternative!
* Perseverance, Persistence & Patience are the Key to get your Glow, your confidence, your health, that job and the success you’re after.

I want to encourage you to NOT GIVE UP in your pursuits.   I too had many moments when I wanted to chuck in the towel with frustration. But instead, I want to inspire you to keep striving, persisting, pushing, reaching, changing, pursuing and wanting to go ahead. I have been encouraged by others to be myself and with that, I say the same to you:  Be patience, be kind to yourself, be genuine with those you deal with, love what you do, be honest but not a pushover and let those around you help (if they can).  And if at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again!

The 7th of April marks the 3rd birthday & anniversary of when Essentially Lili took a plunge to make sample products and distribute them at a Women’s Breakfast in Zurich.   Some of you have had the most amazing results with the Essentially Lili ProductsI love making these Fresh, with Love, without any fake ingredients, all Vegan/Vegetarian and suitable for many ages.

Essential Oils Can Help With Stress

Essential Oils Help Stress

Essential Oils can Help With Stress related symptoms.

Essential Oils can Help With Stress related symptoms with their amazing properties & benefits.

Today our lives are becoming more stressful as we try to juggle the demands of our homes and work environments. Whether or not we have children added to the mix, if the home & work life is not balanced, the stress levels can overwhelm us.Whilst we may not notice at the beginning, the effects of stress will start to take its toll on our Holistic being: our body and health, our mind and spirit.

Symptoms of stress can affect us in various ways.Some of us suffer with various kinds of Headaches or Migraines, whilst others could have stress related Digestive issues. Often our sleep is disrupted, making us irritable towards others. No-one wants to become a yukky version of themselves, especially towards our loved ones.Stress can make you feel frustrated, angry and sometimes like you have no control. Stress can cause us to have itchy skin, whilst in some cases, it can develop into more severe disorders like Eczema & Psoriasis.Let’s look into these with a little more detail:

Headache can include Migraine, Tension, Sugar or Sinus related thumping heads.
Migraine headaches can be worsened when stressed, going through hormonal changes, suffering anxiety or feeling deprived of sleep.These types of headaches can also make us feel nauseas.
Tension headaches can be caused by stress, bad posture, eating irregularly, withdrawing from caffeine consumption, not sleeping well, straining your eyes from prolonged computer use or watching telly.
Sugar headachescan commence when your blood sugars are too low.
Sinus headaches can commence from the season changes, pollen, congestion, making us feel stuffy and weasy. Often the symptoms can be so awful that we cannot breathe, our eyes itch and face can swell from the discomfort.

What I love about Essential Oils is that these concentrated natural blessings have so many amazing properties, and when used correctly, they can bring wonderful results.

Essential oils like Rosemary, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Chamomile, and Lavender are soothing, uplifting and provide relief for these kinds of Headaches. See more about the benefits of the Essential Oils on our Ingredientspage.As the blended concoction enters our blood stream, the Essential Oils which have anti-viral, antiseptic, sedative and anti-depressant properties can relieve and calm the systems.

Blended with a carrier oil, they can be inhaled with a travel inhaler to help bring instant relief when the symptoms arise.Or they can be massaged to the chest, the temples of your head, back of your neck and tips of your nose for inhalation, or they can be added to a warm, relaxing bath to have a pampering spa session. Just be aware that some Essential Oils are unsuitable for Kids, Expecting and Nursing Mums.

Our Blissful Minds blend was made considering that kids can get headaches too. It consists of Jasmine, Lavender, Rosemary, Frankincense & Roman Chamomile in Apricot Oil, making this product suitable for kids and Mums as well as for the bath, providing relief all year round before the symptoms become too strong.

For those who are getting headaches, fatigue and hot flushes due to the Menopausal stage of their lives, a stronger blend of Essential Oils called Changing Seasons has been made to assist.The Concentrated Serum can be used in the bath or directly onto the skin at various points, or the Inhaler can be kept in your bag to use when the symptoms arise.

For Stress that affects our digestion, we need to ensure that we watch what we eat.Cut back on those foods that aggravate your system like chillies and spices, as well as foods that are high in sugars which can cause your gut to become sluggish.Drink plenty of water to help flush out your bodies. Marjoram Essential Oil is closely related to Oregano, which is a highly concentrated source which promotes bioactive compounds.It also helps keep your heart healthy.Other Essential Oils that can assist with a sluggish digestive system are Coriander, Ginger, Nutmeg and Tarragon. Blended with a Carrier oil, these can be applied to the tummy area to bring relief.Though eating fresh in a soup would not only be a delicious alternative, but it would bring quick relief to your digestion.

Note: Only a Clinical Aromatherapist should be able to instruct ingesting Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.Please seek a professional’s assistance if you choose to ingest Essential Oils.

Stress affecting our sleep keeps our minds ticking all night, stopping us from getting the rest we need. Insomnia is when we find it hard to fall asleep, or we lay awake for too long. If this happens 3 nights per week, for 3 months or more, it would be considered as chronic.Whilst sleeping pills can be considered for a short-term solution, they can have other side effects over a longer period including feelings of drowsiness.Alternatively, natural sleep aids with little or no side effects would be better in the long run. Some of the symptoms for sleep deprivation include:
• Finding it difficult to fall asleep when you lie down;
• Being unable to stay asleep throughout the night;
• Waking up too early and having trouble going back to sleep;
• Feeling low in energy, tired or fatigued when you wake up;
• Not feeling like you have had any rest when you get up;
• Feeling irritable, aggressive or moody throughout the day;
• Finding it hard to concentrate at work/school;
• Your work/school relationships can become affected by feeling cranky and overtired.

Essential Oils blended in a carrier oil can be used in the home with diffusers or Aromasticks to assist in making the mood more pleasant at home. Blending Lavender, Bergamot, Mandarin, Ylang Ylang are amongst those Essential Oils which can help your sleeping patterns with time.Using these in an Inhaler to reduce the Anxiety levels can also bring calmness to the mind when you are on the go.

For more information about the Congestion & Sinuses products, we make Concentrated Serums which parents have been using in the bath to help their little ones with congestion and coughs. The carrier oil makes the products safe to use in the bath, which are Kids Breathe Easy Concentrate and Adults Breathe Easy Concentrate is the stronger blend with Peppermint & Vetiver. This has helped my husband snore less at night time when I have been able to place the concentrated serum on the tip of his nose which equals Happy Wife!

The Pick Me Up (Adults & Kids) Anxiety Inhalers will be available on the webpage soon.The blend will help calm the nerves when feeling overwhelmed, anxious and stressed out.

Lastly on the list is when Stress affects our skin. Our hormones can become imbalanced as the blood flow to our skin, hair, teeth and throughout the body can be somewhat hindered.A common reaction to stress is Eczema, Acne, Hives, Psoriasis, Rosacea, gum disease and hair loss. Being aware of when our body is not reacting well is key to getting back in control.A lot of times, controlling the foods we eat can affect our body’s recovery process.

Essentials blended with Butters and Vegetable Oils that are rich in Vitamins and healing properties are a wonderful way to bring relief and restoration to skin that has been affected by stress.In our Skin Assistance category, we have a range of products suitable for Kids to Adults for Eczema, Dry Skin, Rosacea, Psoriasis (including the scalp). We have had some amazing Before & After results using the All-Natural Skincare products, which have been shared on the Reviews & Testimonials’.Some of our Happy Customers have been featured at the beginning of the Testimonials page, which is awesome. If you wish to be included, please send me a recent picture of yourself without makeup with your testimonial.

You can also refer to the previous Blog: Understanding Your Bodyfor the signs before they manifest in your body, as they will need a longer time period to resolve.

Note: I will be working on making a Blend this year to aid digestion as well as a balm to help with menstrual pains.Let me know if these kinds of products would interest you.

How to Treat Cystic Acne in your 30’s

Au Zurich

How to Treat Cystic Acne in your 30’s

How to Treat Cystic Acne in your 30’s and get your skin feeling fabulous, with that all-natural glow again.

You can remember your teens like it was yesterday – going through your body’s changes, hormones, studying, having that crush on that cutest boy/girl at school.Some of us had those awkward braces to wear for straightening our teeth. Does that ring a bell?Probably the worst part about our teens is the acne break outs.Just when you think it’s all sorted, another one rears its ugly head and screams at you when you get up … ‘ GOOD MORNING I AM A NEW ZIT & I AM HERE RIGHT ON YOUR FOREHEAD, NOSE AND CHIN FOR EVERYONE TO SEE’ … Oh-M-Gee, Totally Cringeworthy.

How did you feel during those times? Embarrassed, self-conscious, frustrated, worried about what people where going to think of you? What was the first thing you would do? Ok, 3rd thing, because the first thing was probably want to crawl back into bed and hide, the 2nd thing you wanted to do was POP IT and so the 3rd thing you wanted to do was cover it up.

But what if you’re a boy or as we say in Australia, a young fella, bloke? You can’t put on foundation or cover up without being laughed at… or can you?Some kids were ‘lucky’ when the didn’t get so many on their face, but they had them on their shoulders and back.During the winter time when no-one sees them it’s no big deal, but when the summer arrives, that hidden factor suddenly comes to the surface for everyone to see.

My parents grew up in Sicily, Italy, and were eating a lot of whole foods from the land, which were not processed or spoilt by Commercial pesticides.When we were teenagers, the association to the foods we were eating with allergies and skin problems were not linked.It’s ironic because our parents had such great skin with a natural, healthy glow about them, whilst the generation after us were showing a different story.Many were overweight and their skin was showing more spots, acne or other problems.

Whilst I write this, I want you to understand that I was one of those teens – overweight, spots, eating secretly when no-one was watching and trying to overcome not only issues like Acne, but Eczema as well.

Today I have noticed that this ‘teen cycle’ is happening again in people’s 20’s, 30’s and often in the 40’s.I’m sure if you hated it then, you will be feeling even more frustrated and self-conscious as an adult with kids looking like a teenager, right?But why is it happening? There are a number of Reasons why:

The foods we eat – Sometimes what we are eating no longer agrees with our internal gut system. It’s become sluggish and is working like an old car that needs to have its oil changed.
Our bodies are changing – There’s no date for when this should start to happen to us, but it will at some stage begin.
Stress – This can be the biggest killer. Stress can mess up our minds, our relationships, our work environment and ultimately our bodies.
Skincare routine – Often we use products that are too harsh as they strip the necessary natural oils from our skin’s reserves. In doing so, the skin’s oils are taken away, causing the body to reproduce more oil to replenish what’s missing.This tends to create a vicious cycle:the body replenishes the oils – we are told to remove the excess – the body reproduces the oils – we remove them again – etc.
Hydration – Are you drinking 2 litres of water a day to keep your body replenished?
Time – Do you have unrealistic expectations and are you wanting everything to go away quickly?

How to help and manage these:

Maintaining a well-balanced diet where there is a lot of healthy varieties & colours is a great way to keep your body functioning at all levels. This is particularly important if you are suffering from other ailments like Allergies and Intolerances, Hashimotos, Diabetes & even more serious conditions like Cancer. Whilst some of you can still have your indulgent ‘cheat days’, try to ensure it’s not every day.

Being aware of our body changes and what is happening from the beginning will help with the next phase of life. Whether our changes are monthly related, hormonals or the commencement of the pre-menopausal stage, our bodies will begin to adjust.Seeking out others who have already been on that route is also a great idea – why suffer when learning from someone else’s journey can save you the hassle?

Try to de-stress and unwind to allow our minds to calm down, giving our bodies a chance to rebalance. Some love to do Yoga, Pilates, spa treatments, massage, running, hiking or just getting some rest. Whatever activity you choose to do, keep a journal nearby where you can write what’s bothering you as part of the de-stress process.

The right skincare routine is also necessary, and when you find what works for you, stick to it. Unless your body and skin tell you it’s time for a change.Start with a gentle cleansing routine, removing your makeup, washing your face and neck.Then apply a concentrated serum if you have one, or a gentle face balm to help replenish your skin.Your skin should feel soft, especially the next morning when you run the ‘back of your hand’ over your face.I still love doing this today!!!

Please keep in mind that if you have had skin problems for a longer period of time, the overnight factor will need a longer period of time to see the results.

Water is the source of life – The reality is that water is a daily necessity, as it helps our bodies get rid of toxins, helps replenish our cells, as well as keep us hydrated from within.Remember, whilst your skincare keeps your skin moisturised, the water intake from within keeps it hydrated.

Turn back time – We all want the fairy godmother to wave her wand and make all our problems go away overnight.I know what that feels like first hand, waking up every morning to inspect how good or bad my skin looked.The reality is that if you have had a long-term skin condition, it will need time to repair, recover and to give you that glow back.

Some of you are still shocked when I explain what my skin used to look like as a teenager, covered from face to thighs in weeping and bleeding Eczema. I have no photos of that time in my life, where I saw myself as hideous, so I kept myself indoors for 2 months, away from life.To get well, I had to do things the hard way, seeking help to get my life back on track.

I had to eliminate so many foods and drinks from my diet, to clear my body of years of toxins, caused by medicine, antibiotics and foods.All I wanted was a whole lot of ‘normal’.It didn’t happen overnight.But with persistence, patience, encouragement, good will, strength, a positive attitude together with love and support, I got through to the other side.This is what I always try to reassure you with – it will happen, though be kind to yourself with diligence and managing your expectations.

New Beginnings & Overcoming Stress

New School Year 2017

New Beginnings & Overcoming Stress

New Beginnings can be exciting and stressful at the same time. Being open-minded towards dealing with stress is part of the resolution!

New beginnings can be quite overwhelming especially if you are concerned about what adventure is about to commence.Whether it is the expansion of your family with the addition of a little one, moving house to a new town or country, starting a new school, or commencing a new job.There is a mix of emotions and feelings, from excitement to nervousness, all which can play havoc in our minds and lives.

When we bring home our newborn babies and try to fit very quickly into the role of ‘super mum/dad/parent’, we soon realise that there is only so much we can do around the needs of our infants.Sleep deprivation makes us parents exhausted and sometimes cranky or grumpy.It’s not that we mean to be unpleasant – it’s just that we are not coping well with trying to make a perfect environment.

One of the first things to give way during times of stress is usually our sleep.Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night having a panic or anxiety attack?These attacks consume your energy as they keep your adrenalin pumping when you should be resting instead.

Whilst living in Zurich, we moved apartments from a lovely international community to another location.It meant our child changed school and was having to start all over with trying to fit in again. She was the target of bullies, getting picked on by kids who were taller than me.We notice the personality change, the not wanting to go to school, fussing over what to wear and pretending to feel ill, all so that she wouldn’t have to go to school.Has that happened to you and your child?If so, more than likely there is something else going on at the school, and it’s worth being present to see for yourself, which is what I did.

It was during this period of time I was making my blends for Congestion with the Kids Breathe Easy Concentrate and Breathe Easier Concentrate , as well as the Blissful Minds for headaches which comes in Concentrated form as well as Inhaler.

I decided to make my child her own blend of Pick Me Up to help relax and clear her head when overcome with Anxiety.She kept her inhaler in her pencil case so that she always had it with her. Containing Cedarwood, Frankincense and Lavender these Essential Oils help relieve her mind when inhaled through the deep breathing technique.For Adults, the ingredients included Vetiver which is stronger for calming and relaxing our nerves when they get stressed.

This year for us has been one with many challenges. We faced a whole lot of uncertainty with our young family and future plans.We all tried to keep a level of normality at home for the sake of our kids.But we had moments of epic failure as the stress levels became too much for all of us to bare at times.For us we had the stress of finding a new place to live in a short space of time, trying to keep the kids motivated at school whilst dealing with the main factors for our anxiety.

When we found the place to live, we packed and moved as quickly as possible, whilst continuing to keep in touch with customers and their needs.I sometimes think how did we manage with such little support and help?Besides adrenalin and our parental instincts to protect our loved ones, we keep pushing on til it was all done.

Friendships can also become estranged during stressful times.More so if there is little understanding between friends about what is really going on in the life of the other person.I remember a wise person saying, ‘Unless you walk in the shoes of the person who is going through their crisis, you should never judge them.’The reality is true, for it is only when you find out what their journey is about, will you understand the crisis they are enduring and the stress they are trying to overcome.

During our periods of stress and anxiety, I was unable to focus on anything other than making products for my customers.Studies stopped for a period of time, until I began working again in July. It was during my studies on Stress Management that I wished I had read the course material to help me deal with our periods of anxiety.Whilst reading my materials, I performed the breathing, visualising and calming techniques which relaxed me so much I almost fell asleep.This form of relaxing the body completely is extremely powerful and it gave me the energy to complete the next parts of my Diploma courses.

I remember going to dinner with some mum friends of mine who just kept asking ‘What are you going to do?’ And all I could say was ‘I don’t know, yet’. Feels like a lifetime ago but one thing I can say is that we eventually got through that period of time, unscathed.

Stress is always part of our lives, despite trying our best to be the positive energy for our family and others around us. Sometimes we have to take ‘stock’ of what’s beyond our control, what is really worth losing sleep over and what isn’t. But most of all, is having that person or group of friends who keep you grounded, focused, encouraged and make you feel supported when things are not going as planned.Often that is what we need most – an encouraging word and a hug from a friend or loved one.

I have been fortunate these past few months to have those few who just saw I wasn’t ok and reached out to me.For them, I’m really grateful and hope that I am always there for them in return.
